I had been on the hunt for a new frying pan as the non-stick capabilities of my former one had effectively diminished. After scouring the internet for what felt like hours, I reached the point of information overload. There are so many brands out there that claim to be both non-toxic and non-stick; but after doing some research, I learned that some brands are really playing it fast and loose with their non-toxic designation.
I had all but given up when I received an email from Caraway the next week. It felt like such a moment of serendipity – because they had been on my shortlist of brands to go back to. The lovely folks on their team offered to send me some samples to try* – and the more I learned about their practices, the materials they use, and once I actually put their cookware to the test – the more impressed I became by Caraway’s products.
Now, let’s get into my honest Caraway cookware review.
I opted for the Cookware & Minis Set in cream, which includes a mini fry pan, mini sauce pan, standard fry pan, standard sauce pan, standard sauté pan, and dutch oven. They also include a little storage device so you can safely and securely store the cookware in an organized, space-saving way, which is such a nice touch. This particular best-selling set has nearly 49,000 reviews with a 4.7/5-star rating.
The set is visually stunning and looks fantastic in my kitchen, yes; but the efficacy of this cookware brand is what makes it stand apart from the rest. I’ve now used all six items, and my experience cooking with them all was such a thrill. The non-stick capabilities are truly phenomenal – food just cooks better and faster on their pans – and because the non-stick is so effective, you don’t need to use as much oil when cooking. The heat conductivity (i.e., the surface’s ability to heat evenly), is also stellar. This also makes for far easier cleanup when you don’t have food sticking to the pan, which I think we can all get on board with. It’s also ‘stove-top agnostic,’ meaning it performs equally as well on gas or electric stoves.
Why buying non-toxic cookware is so important.
I know we’ve all heard about the importance of non-toxic cookware, but I think it’s essential to understand the why here. Standard non-stick often contains PTFE, also known as Teflon, which has been shown to release toxic fumes when heated that can cause respiratory damage and a slew of other issues. Standard non-stick cookware also often contains PFOAS and PFAS, also known as “forever chemicals,” that have been linked to things like developmental delays in children, reproductive issues in women, reduced immunity, hormone interference, and even increased risk of certain cancers.
Scary, right? But with Caraway, you can sleep at night knowing that their fully non-toxic cookware is free of PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, as well as heavy metals.
Buying gorgeous, high-performance cookware and items for your entire kitchen – all from one place.
In addition to Caraway’s ceramic non-toxic cookware, the company also offers an array of other fantastic items. They have also offer stainless steel non-toxic cookware, bakeware like muffin pans and baking sheets, beautiful food storage, steamers, kitchen linens, cutting boards, a tea kettle, cooking knives, utensils, and other fun gadgets.
